Anchorlift Barracuda Windlass – Powerful, Compact, and Ideal for Boats 20-35 Feet
The Anchorlift Barracuda Windlass is the perfect anchoring solution for boats ranging from 20 to 35 feet. Designed for efficiency and durability, this vertical windlass is compact, powerful, and easy to install—ideal for sailboats, motor yachts, and fishing vessels.
The low-profile design minimises deck space usage while offering smooth, quiet motor and gear operation from beneath the deck. Constructed from marine-grade 316 stainless steel, both the deck unit and vertical shaft provide superior corrosion resistance and long-term reliability in harsh marine environments.
With a high-speed anchor drop of up to 125 feet per minute, this windlass offers a manual free-fall feature with an adjustable clutch for precision anchoring. The result? Long-term, trouble-free operation that ensures you stay in control whether you’re mooring in shallow bays or deep-water harbours.
Being vertical the Barracuda Windlass takes up less space on deck and is lighter than horizontal windlasses. Easy to install, vertical windlasses are better protected from direct contact with salt water, since the gear & motor are installed underneath the deck.
Barracuda windlasses work with both chain only or rope/chain combinations. 1/4″ HT G43 chain and 1/2″ double braided or 8 plait rope.
The Barracuda 900 has a larger diameter shaft and larger gearbox for more strength and power than the 600.

Windlass Installation Guide
When selecting a windlass system there are some important matters to consider:
- boat size
- displacement
- windage
- anchor size
- chain size
Choosing a windlass system too small for your boat could result in compromising your safety and inevitably costly repairs. The most common way to rate a windlass is by its maximum pulling power (or lifting power) and maximum working load. Anchorlift offers windlasses in several sizes and design and motors from 400 – 4000 watts in 12, 24, 230 & 380 volt.
