Rocna Anchor

Designed to self-launch and self-stow on most bow-rollers.

Rocna is a true multi-purpose anchor that sets in all ocean floors without any special tricks, giving maximum versatility. Combine this with its self-launch capability and instant set and you have an anchor that just about anyone can use.

The design of the Rocna Anchor ensures that it lands on the ideal angle for penetration. Rocna’s unique chisel tip & weight distribution then combine to ensure a virtual instant set in most seabed conditions including thick weed and kelp.

Rocna has ultra high-hold performance with a greater blade surface area than its competitors. This combined with its concave blades creates a holding power that is best described as outstanding.

The Rocna Anchor is a true multi-purpose yacht anchor that sets and holds in most seabeds, from soft mud to hard sand, clay, grass, and kelp.

The Rocna Anchor delivers precision setting. the roll-bar ensures that the anchor always arrives at the ideal angle to penetrate the seabed, setting skids on either side of the anchor guide the fluke tip which acts as a sharp chisel cutting into the seabed. A third of the anchor’s weight is on its fluke tip, delivering an instant reliable set with every use.

The fluke has a concave design which gives the greatest resistance, and presents the largest fluke area possible to the seabed. So whether you are anchoring in a soft seabed, or on hard or weedy sea floors, Rocna will deliver the ultimate in holding power. Its unique design ensures the Rocna anchor remains stable and buried, does not roll out on reversal or veering of load, or if dragged beyond yield, providing enhanced security. The Rocna shank is designed so the anchor self-launches and self-stows on the majority of bow-rollers, with the greatest possible reliability.

Built from the highest quality materials, a high tensile steel shank and the best quality welds and finish ensure strength and durability. Every Rocna anchor comes with a lifetime guarantee against both breakage and bending in addition to manufacturing defects.

Rocna anchors are available in 14 sizes from 4 kg (9 lb) – 275 kg (606 lb) to suit all vessels from small boats to small ships. Larger sizes available on request. Galvanized and stainless steel options are available in all sizes.

rocna anchor dimensions

There’s a Rocna or Vulcan anchor to suit just about any vessel – including larger sizes not featured here. To choose the correctly sized Rocna or Vulcan anchor for your boat, follow the chart and instructions.

To choose the correctly sized Rocna or Vulcan anchor, find your vessel’s length from the column on the left, then track across that row until you find the first column with a displacement (in tonnes or pounds) the same or larger than the displacement of your vessel. The top of the column with the selected displacement indicates the recommended Rocna or Vulcan anchor.

rocna anchor selection chart

Our anchor sizing recommendations are intended to provide an anchor adequate for use in most all conditions. We base our calculations on 50 knots of wind, associated surge, and poor holding bottoms. This chart is a guideline only, so if you’d like further information please contact us for further advice.

NOTE: We do not provide standard recommendations for boats larger than those for which the Rocna 110 (243 lb) would be the recommended size. This is because of increasing complexities of the factors involved. Furthermore, classification society rules and/or legal requirements are likely to dictate the anchor sizes mandated for these vessels. Rocna anchors from size 110 kg (243 lb) and above may be sized based on classification society Rules for Ships for SHHP anchors. Modern rules permit a mass 33% lighter than HHP types, or 50% lighter than “standard stockless” types. Anchor sizing is based on a vessel’s separately calculated Equipment Number (EN). Which Will Fit Best, Rocna or Vulcan?

The Rocna anchor has set the bar for the highest performance and reliability when put to the test. The Vulcan infuses as many as possible of the proven performance advantages of its elder sibling, while being specifically designed to fit a wider range of vessels. For the Vulcan, the omission of a roll-bar along with a carefully designed shank profile ensures a snug fit on bows. Platforms, bowsprits, prods, stays, and other protrusions are easily cleared.

3D or 2D CAD Files

We are able to supply naval architects or boat builders with accurate CAD files of all Rocna and Vulcan models to support the proper integration of the anchor into a boat’s ground tackle system. Contact us for more information.
