Groco Ulube Grease
U-Lube is a specific formulation of grease for seacocks that also includes a marine growth inhibitor. U-Lube is injected through a the Zerk fitting on the valve into the cavity between the valve body and the ball.
Valves and seacocks that are “exercised” frequently are more likely to operate freely over a longer period than those not operated. However due to seacock position and long off-season periods seacocks can be left for long periods of time without “exercise” resulting in the build-up of barnacles, salt and calcium making the valve extremely difficult to operate.
Groco U-Lube is a specifically developed grease and marine growth inhibitor for seacocks and valves, offered in 3 oz and 14 oz. tubes. U-Lube is injected through a Zerk fitting, standard on GROCO valves beginning 2016, into the cavity between the valve body and the ball while the valve is in the OPEN position (see figure-1).
With U-Lube the space is now filled with grease inhibiting the build-up of saltwater and marine growth alloing the valve to operate more smoothly.
The approximate volume of U-Lube grease required to fill the space between the ball OD and the valve body ID for GROCO ball valves is shown below; the grease volume for other valve brands will be similar, but will vary slightly.
- Proprietary formulation
- Inhibits marine growth
- Inhibits saltwater build-up
- Maintains free moving valves and seacocks
